And honestly, the only reason people read my work is because I read and comment on theirs first. I suppose they feel obligated to give the same attention. I only have one person, Kira, who really keeps up with my work. With everyone else, I think it's just a passing interest.
As for advice, I think that on top of posting your own stuff on DA, you should search around and read other's things, making yourself known.
